FAQs
? How do I use the Visa Debit Card? |
Think of the card as your ATM card and checkbook rolled
into one easy-to-use card. Your card is accepted everywhere
you see the Visa symbol, around town and around the world.
There is no fee
for using the card when pressing the “debit” or “credit” button. |
? If I press “credit,” do
I incur debt? |
| No. The card works
the same for purchases whether you push “debit” or “credit.” You
must subtract the amount of your purchase from your checkbook. |
? Are the funds
withdrawn from my checking account immediately? |
| No. Once the purchase is authorized, that amount is put on
hold until the transaction comes through. It will be deducted
from your account within two or three days for a signature
transaction, or immediately for a PIN-based transaction. |
? What are my daily
transaction limits?
|
| You may purchase up to a maximum $2000 per day if there are sufficient funds in your account. You may withdraw or purchase from ATM or POS terminals up
to a maximum of $500 in any one day if there are sufficient funds in your account. |
? Do I have to use my PIN?
|
| Only if you want cash. |
? Is there any reason I would ever want to press “debit”?
|
| If you want cash back over the amount
of your purchase, you would have to press “debit” or “ATM” and then enter your PIN. |
? Can my card be used without my signature, or without
a PIN?
|
| Only at gas pumps. |
? Will I ever be charged for more
than the amount of my purchase?
|
| Yes. Certain merchants change the authorization amount. However,
the merchant should not charge your account an amount different
from your actual purchase. If this is done, please contact
the merchant immediately. You may want to clarify with the
merchant prior to making the purchase, if they change the authorization
amount. Some merchants that commonly change the authorization
amounts are: hotels; airlines; car rentals; pay-at-the-pump;
restaurants; bar tabs, but are not limited to the preceding
merchants. |
? What if a thief uses my debit card?
|
If a thief withdraws funds from your account and causes checks
to bounce, River City FCU will cover your NSF fees, as long
as you let us know immediately that the card is missing.
If your card is lost, stolen or not received, contact us
immediately and we will disable the card and order you a new
