Buying and selling online has become incredibly popular over the past 10 years. Today it is a cinch with popular apps like OfferUp, Letgo and even Facebook’s Marketplace. Netflix’s Tidying Up with Marie Kondo’s show has inspired people everywhere to evaluate belongings that “spark joy” in their life. We can most likely attribute her to influencing the increase in usage of these Buy/Sell/Trade apps.

While we completely encourage making some extra cash to stash away, we also want our members, staff and friends to practice as much safety as possible with exchanges.  Have your buyer/seller meet you at a Safe Exchange Zone at any of the SAPD or BCSO substations. If the buyer/seller is reluctant to meet at a police substation, take it as sign that this person may not have the best intentions. Always make sure to bring a relative or a friend with you when exchanging. There are eight different Safe Exchange Zones to select from:
