You may have seen in recent news, fraud is on the rise – debit card fraud, ATM and gas skimmers, and check scams. Fraudsters are constantly finding ways to bypass the protections that have been put in place, most recently EMV chip debit cards.
The fraudsters have found ways to manipulate the chip in a debit card which allows their fraudulent transactions to be approved. In order to protect our members from these types of fraudulent transactions, we have implemented safeguards that may decline a transaction if the chip verification fails. If you have attempted a legitimate transaction that is declined, please ensure the chip process was completed correctly. You may need to reattempt the transaction.
If your transaction is declined, you may be contacted by our fraud department via text, email or phone to confirm the validity of the transaction. You may also contact our Member Contact Center at 210-225-6866 for assistance.
