Information Systems & Technology Specialist

Role:
To provide hardware, software, network, cybersecurity and data communications support, assuring that computing standards are implemented and enforced; extend information systems support services to staff.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Follows the daily task schedule; Monitors and responds quickly and effectively to requests received through the I.T. helpdesk. Assists in installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of computers, printers, etc., coordinating with technical support and vendors as necessary; coordinates with other I.T. staff to support and resolve hardware, software, and network problems.

  • Assist in educating staff on information cybersecurity awareness to help safeguard credit union assets.

  • Works as part of the information systems team and under the direction of the department head to ensure that standards for control, cybersecurity, and recoverability are understood and followed. Installs software to assure compliance with cybersecurity standards and control procedures. Recommends and administers network security through operating system controls and filtering devices.

  • Recommends standards, conventions and procedures in all areas of expertise.

  • Ensures administrative control over the end-user hardware and software, as well as related supplies and accessories, through maintenance of inventories, files, logs, etc. Assists in managing, maintaining, and updating the intranet.

  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience
    Two to five years of similar or related experience.

  • Education
    A two year college degree, four year degree preferred or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.

  • Interpersonal Skills

    Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

  • Other Skills
    Working knowledge of the MS Office suite, computers, operating systems, peripheral equipment, etc. Must be able to work and travel independently and use general office equipment.

  • Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee may come into contact with dust or other allergens. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Work Environment
    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
